Rules

Picks

For each race, you must select 2 drivers, a chassis and an engine. You cannot select the same driver twice for one race. You can mix and match any combination of driver, chassis and engine you desire.

The cost of these team elements is based on the performance so far this season. This highly complicated calculation is a closely guarded secret. Basically, the better a driver, chassis and engine performs, the more expensive it will become.

Your picks for a race must be made by the deadline posted on the picks page. The deadline is the start time of the 1st qualifying session. You can change your pick as many times as you like as long as it’s before the pick deadline.

A budget summary is shown near the top of the page. This is to help you manage your budget. Your budget must last you the entire season. This means you must make a pick for every race. After all, a Formula 1 team must show up to every race. If you forget to make a pick, you will be penalized 12 million. You can spend your budget any way you see fit. The only rule imposed for each race is that you have enough remaining in your budget for the remaining races.

Points

Points will be awarded per driver, chassis and engine. The standard formula one points will be awarded.

Finishing Position Points Earned
1 10
2 8
3 6
4 5
5 4
6 3
7 2
8 1

The following is an example of picks for one race, the finishing positions and the points earned.

Finishing Position Points Earned
Driver 1: Michael Schumacher 1 10
Driver 2: Jenson Button 2 8
Chassis: Ferrari 1 10
Engine: BMW 3 6
Total Points: 34

Chassis And Engine Points

Each chassis has two drivers. You will be awarded points for the BEST finishing position of a chassis. So if one driver for a team finishes 1st and the other driver finishes 5th, you will be awarded points for the 1st place finish.

The same applies for engines. If a engine is used in 4 cars, you will be awarded the points for the best finishing position by that engine regardless of which chassis it was in.

Bonuses and Penalites

For each driver, chassis and engine that sets a fastest lap or starts a race from pole position, you will receive 1 bonus point.
For each driver, chassis and engine that does not finish a race(DNF) you will LOSE 1 point. You will lose points for each engine, chassis and driver that does not finish.

How To Read Results

For each pick you make for a race you will see some information after the race.

You will also see a small icon for fastest lap, pole postion and every DNF. These will help you determine how the bonus points were calculated. See the Bonus Points and Penalties section below.

For example:
If you pick the Ferrari engine and both Red Bull cars do not finish, you will lose 2 points.
